Tips for improving Spanish listening skills?
I’m an American learning Spanish (Latin American style) and I’ve reached a real roadblock.
I can read Spanish fairly well. I read daily news in Spanish. I read daily comic strips in Spanish. I read Wikipedia in Spanish. I can read articles on fairly complicated and abstract topics in Spanish.
But watching even basic TV shows in Spanish is beyond me. My brain can’t process the spoken language fast enough to keep up. If I turn captions on I can read fast enough to follow the show, but my listening skills don’t seem to be improving.
They aren’t using many words I don’t know. I can read a transcipt of a show. But when listening I often can’t decipher what’s being said. The words just blend into each other in my ear.
I have the most success watching news programs, where the newscaster enunciates clearly,.
Any tips for how to improve my listening skills? Due to time constraints and geography, I need ideas I can use on my own with my limited free time.
thanks.

Is there a free online service that teaches a foreign language?
I need to learn Spanish for my job. I have to read, write, understand, as well as speak the language fluently. Does anyone know of an online service or program that teaches these skills
at no cost?
Thank you in advance for your kindness.

I need a Spanish translation?
For those fluent in Spanish:
Please, no online translators. Feel free to change up “literal meanings”, this is simply what I want it to mean (doesn’t have to be word for word). Thanks in advance!
I learn the similarities and differences of La Navidad of Spain and Christmas of the United States. I like this project because I will learn about Christmas in different countries.
They have similarities because they are based on Mary, Joseph, and the three kings. Also they both have dinners with their families on Christmas Eve.
Some people celebrate the religion part in the United States, but not all people do. Finally, the children in American receive lots of presents. The children in Spain receive as little as 2!
I will use my learning in real life because when I see people of Spain, I can comfortably talk to them with my knowledge of La Navidad. Also, I can visit Spain and take part in their activities. The people of Spain will see my respect for their culture.
