On this side of the world every country has Spanish as their national language, except for Brazil which has Portugese and is similar to Spanish, and Canada and the USA are the only other countrys without Spanish as the national language.

How is it ****** for Americans to expect those entering our country with the intent on living here to speak the accepted language? If I moved to France, I wouldn’t expect the French citizens to cater to me and speak English – I would hold myself accountable to learn their language, customs etc. and live accordingly.
Now regarding the illegals – I have no sympathies for criminals. They are breaking the law by their very definition. They should have no expectations of Americans catering to them whatsoever.

Let’s say the problem is reversed and Americans are flooding into Mexico constantly. You would think that Mexico would want all illegal Americans to learn Spanish because Spanish is the predominant language there. I used to operate a free lunch program for low-income families. I had to speak to the mothers in Spanish because they did not understand English. Non English-speaking Latinos (legal or illegal) are very insular, and most will not assimilate into the English-speaking culture, or even attempt to learn English.
Their children end up becoming their spokespeople. It’s not fair to either the parent or the child.

To make your ego happy, have you noticed how rapidly the rest of the world learns English through school and TV? English words are added so fast to most of the other languages in the world, some governments have had to take drastic measures on the media to defend their languages (Toubon law in France).
Spanish is possibly one of the languages more influenced by English due to them sharing same origins and to geo and economic situations. It changes so fast in a few decades there might not be any more Spanish language left for people like you to complain.

How To Learn Spanish Quickly
1. Over all, very, very few of the illegal aliens…(not immigrants and if you spoke English, you would know that) speak Spanish. They speak very, very dissimilar dialects of Spanish. Adding the burden to their lives of learning to speak Spanish is incomprehensible and pointless. Getting them home and getting them jobs should be the first effort of anyone who cares about the decent illegal aliens.
2. Over all, also, almost none of the illegal aliens read and write Spanish. Maybe yes.. maybe no.. they should not learn to read and write Spanish.. only English which is the working language of the world.. every where.. the working language of the world.
3. English is the working language of the world. It is spoken in more places in the world than any other language, and probably always will be for reasons I prefer not to tell you.
4. The Catholic Church has been a mainstay of the Spanish Language of South America, and more and more people see what the Catholic Church did in the United States, but other countries also, as an absolute betrayal of the principels of… being…. a spiritual leader. Things.. they are gonna change.

The United States does not want illegal aliens… and they are not called immigrants in English… flooding our country from a country that has ONE… only ONE family planning service in all of its country. American Men are macho, and American Women can have the kids.. there is another reason out there that escapes you completely and it will be the undoing of the efforts to colonize the United States.
6. The resources of the Untied States are slim in very critical areas. Showers are restricted in some areas of California, ..lawn watering is restricted in some parts of the U.S., and it is getting worse. Water is being reused in places like New Mexico where the Rio comes rolling down filled with excrement and is the primary source of water for miles, and miles, and miles of border. More people are not welcome.. cannot be used.. we don’t want them… the American People are going to be sending them home.
7. If any other president had been elected at this point in our history, the issue would not have been an issue. The Deportations would have begun a long time ago. We won’t be needing Spanish at all… and you better arrange for your ….. immigrants…. to learn English fast… reading, writing, speaking.

Best Way To Learn Spanish
From a strictly practical standpoint, it might be a good idea for me to learn some Spanish if I intended to live in a part of America that has a high Hispanic population (the illegal immigration issue aside). That said, I am very much opposed to illegal immigration and believe that anyone who seeks citizenship in our country, regardless of place of birth, has an obligation to learn English. That is one vital thing that my forebears had to do when they came to America through Ellis Island in the immigration wave to America that lasted from the 1880s to the 1920s. The English language is the binding element that holds disparate elements of our culture together, and to not require this of would-be citizens is truly a recipe for trouble.
I would also assert that to not require resident aliens (who are temporarily in this country) to learn at least passable English is bad not only for the native born but for the resident alien as well. And I firmly reject the notion that it is “racist” for Americans to not learn Spanish, or, for that matter, any other foreign language, although not knowing any language other than English might be inadvisable to those who want to engage in international business.
